Blaze pizza sales on fire with 51% increase over previous year
Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza has grown phenomenally fast over the last year reporting an eye-popping 51 percent growth in system-wide 2017 sales to $279 million. The previous year's sales hit $185 million, a news release said.
The brand, which last year took the No. 1 spot on FastCasual's annual list of Top 100 Movers & Shakers, clearly took its leadership role very seriously, showing same-store sales increased 3.7 percent last year, while the brand opened 66 restaurants while expanding to 36 states and Canada.
Two other key FY2017 results for the period ending Dec. 31, include:
- Achieved average unit volumes of $1.4 million.
- Signed M.H. Alshaya Co. agreement for 100 restaurants in 11 countries.
The Alshaya agreement marks the brand's first expansion beyond North America and is the biggest development deal to date for a chain that has grown from two to 200 franchises in four years, according to the press release.
Blaze expects to open 87 restaurants this year, expanding its presence to a total of five countries and 41 U.S. states. Restaurants are will open this year in Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
Blaze also said in the release that it will expand its digital initiatives with improved online ordering and a mobile app upgrade for split-second loading, one-touch ordering and enhanced guest loyalty. The brand will also soon offer nationwide third-party delivery.
"We spent our first five years in business refining our restaurant model and building out the infrastructure and franchise network to support our rapid growth," Blaze CEO Jim Mizes, said in the release. "Today, we have the people, processes and systems in place to achieve our goal of becoming a billion-dollar brand by our tenth birthday."
