Billy Sims opening in Wisconsin

Billy Sims BBQ opened its first Wisconsin unit this week at 1442 West Washington St., in West Bend. Co-founder Billy Sims, Heisman Trophy Winner and NFL running back, will be at the store Friday and Saturday to sign autographs, according to a company press release. 

"It's truly a celebration of good food and good football in a fun, family-oriented atmosphere — a place to kick back and enjoy yourself," Sims said in the release. "Once people try our unique, mouthwatering, pecan-smoked meats, they will become loyal fans."

Celebrating its 15th year, Billy Sims Barbecue is a Tulsa-based fast casual concept founded by Sims and entrepreneur Jeff Jackson. It operates in six states and is seeking franchises for multi-unit deals in states throughout the country.

"Billy Sims BBQ had my attention when I walked in the door and smelled the pecan, Clay Covert, the West Bend franchisee, said in the release. "But what truly sold me was how flavorful the meats were even before I added sauce. As happy as I am to provide something so good to West Bend, I know I'll also be one of my biggest customers."
