Biggby Coffee on track to have 1K locations by 2028

Biggby Coffee, a nearly 350-unit coffee concept founded in East Lansing, Michigan, closed out the 2022 fiscal year by signing 71 franchise agreements with both multi-unit and single-unit operators and opening 58 locations. The chain closed out Q1 2023 by adding 13 locations and signing 27 franchise agreements, according to Biggby Coffee Coffee's Vice President of Emerging Market Development Tony DiPietro.

"We are still 100% franchised and that allows us to focus on our franchise owners," he said in a company press release.

In addition to the franchise agreements, the brand signed at least 21 leases, has 141 stores in development and is on track to have 500 locations by 2024 and 1,000 by 2028.

DiPietro said the brand is focused on growing in Chicago, Memphis, Nashville, Atlanta and Fulton County, Georgia; Virginia Beach and Rockingham County, Virginia; and in Raleigh, Charlotte and Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In addition, it is offering franchise opportunities in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Idaho and Florida.

The initial cost to open a Biggby Coffee franchise ranges from $276,000 to $439,000.
