Shaquille O'Neal-owned Big Chicken is teaming up with Blue Origin's nonprofit Club for the Future to inspire future generations to learn about space travel. Launching next week and continuing throughout November, Big Chicken in-store guests may draw their vision of the future on postcards that Blue Origin, founded in 2000 by Jeff Bezos, will fly on a future New Shepard mission, stamp them "flown to space," and return them to the creators.
"Our partnerships with Blue Origin and Club for the Future are an integral part of bringing Shaquille's vision of BIG dreams and BIG fun to life for our brand," Josh Halpern, CEO of Big Chicken, said in a press release. "This new activity will inspire the next generation and foster a BIG sense of wonder and possibility."
Big Chicken and Club for the Future also developed an education curriculum to inspire future generations about STEM careers. The lesson plans challenge students across the elementary, middle, and high school levels to think creatively about what a new menu item might look like in space. Students are invited to create a new dish with resources from space on the Big Chicken lesson page: www.bigchicken.com/clubforthefuture.com.
"By combining the excitement of space exploration with Big Chicken's offerings, we are nurturing the curiosity of young minds and fueling their appetite for the benefit of Earth," Michael Edmonds, SVP of Strategy, Marketing, and Sales, Blue Origin and president of Club for the Future.
Earlier this year, Big Chicken first announced its partnership with Blue Origin.
"I'm proud to team up with Blue Origin to help inspire the next generation," said O'Neal, who opened the first Big Chicken location in 2018. "This first-of-its-kind partnership is a game changer and I'm excited to take the chicken sandwich game to a whole new level."
