CARY, N.C., Feb 07, 2005 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/-- Bear Rock™ Cafe, the 33 unit fast casual restaurant concept, announced the opening of their 3,392 square-foot new Bear Rock Cafe prototype restaurant design, called the mountain cafe at Cotswold Village Shops at Sharon Amity Road and Randolph Road in Charlotte, N.C. Designed by Dayton, Ohio-based retail design firm Design Forum, the mountain cafe concept evolves the current Bear Rock Cafe mountain lodge concept into something more sophisticated with broader appeal.
"The new design could be described as tailored nature," Bill Chidley, Chief Creative Officer with Design Forum explained. "The prototype design is less rustic than the previous look. The materials are natural -- stone and wood, for example, but they are more contemporary. The design materials and finishes include a lot of patterns stylized with nature-inspired colors and elements like leaves and rocks," Chidley added. With a new softer color palate, dropped ceiling, branded wall coverings and menu boards, and more direct lines, the light, bright, quick casual Bear Rock Cafe is designed with a flexible size in mind for broader ability and growth. Bear Rock Franchise Systems Inc. is excited to test this new design in its next company restaurant at Cotswold Village Shops. Cotswold Village Shops is a 272,000 square-foot lifestyle center with tenants such as Harris Teeter, Steinmart, Old Navy, Starbuck's, Marshall's, Bath & Body Works, Storehouse Furniture, Blockbuster, Ulta and others.
"As a company that was founded in North Carolina, we will continue to look for great opportunities to develop our brand in our home state in key target areas like Charlotte," said Gary Bryant, Bear Rock Foods, Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer. "We are excited to join an impressive tenant mix at Cotswold Village Shops as we continue to develop our brand within the Charlotte market. The Charlotte market will be a terrific place to launch the new prototype design," Bryant added. Bear Rock Cafe is a fast-casual restaurant featuring a wide variety of fresh, hand-crafted sandwiches, garden fresh salads, freshly-baked breads, hot and savory soups, baked potatoes, and a full assortment of gourmet desserts. The Bear Rock Cafe menu also includes Healthy Trends low carb and low fat menu items and a Kid's Menu which includes a create-your-own sandwich. Bear Rock Cafe is also well-known for catering trays and boxed lunches for office or home. The new Bear Rock Cafe in Cotswold Village Shops will be the first mountain cafe design prototype built and will feature the same great menu as all Bear Rock Cafe locations.
