Bar-B-Cutie Smokehouse will open in the Rio Grande Valley in Pharr, Texas. The location will offer seating for more than 150 guests, draft beers, including craft beer selections, and allow guests views of the smokers, kitchen and recipe ingredients, according to a company press release.

Bar-B-Cutie Smokehouse made its Texas debut in McAllen, Texas, in 2011, and announced last June that four more Texas locations will open in San Antonio with others to follow in Houston and Austin.

"Pharr Bar-B-Cutie Smokehouse restaurant is sort-of a 'Field of Dreams,’" said Orlie Ochoa, the owner of the McAllen location and the new Pharr unit. "We've been training staff for this location for a few years now without even knowing exactly where the building would eventually be located. Our patience has paid off, and our 'Pharr dream' will soon become a reality."

The Pharr restaurant will be open in the development at the corner of South Jackson Road and West Kelly Avenue near At Home and Costco. Ochoa said constructing the unit from the ground up allows the team to be strategic in every aspect of the architecture including:

  • Having the kitchen engineered to maximize efficiency in labor and equipment layout
  • A drive-thru lane customized to give customers easy in and out access
  • Providign an interior and exterior that showcases local products and ingredient transparency
  • The bar
