Buck Russell's Bakery & Sandwich Shop, owned by Ballyhoo Hospitality, is opening a second location this fall Wilmette, Illinois, a Chicago suburb.
"We're excited to further expand our footprint in the North Shore," Ballyhoo Hospitality Founder Ryan O'Donnell said in a company press release. "We want to offer the neighborhood a place where people of all ages can gather and enjoy delicious food and warm hospitality. In the morning, guests can stop by for a cup of joe, a breakfast sandwich and a pastry. By the afternoon, they can indulge in one of our signature sandwiches or channel their inner-child with a root beer float."
The bakery will feature baked sticky buns, cupcakes and ice-box cakes, and the sandwich shop will showcase a dozen classic and original sandwiches as well as a kids menu.
Designed by O'Donnell, the interior is a modern nod to the classic American diner and an old-school pastry shop, featuring a retro blue and white lunch counter with stools, vintage wallpaper, Pullman style booths, chrome accents, schoolhouse-style pendant lighting and warm wood floors.
Founded by husband-and-wife partners Ryan and Anna O'Donnell in 2018, Ballyhoo restaurants include American-inspired cuisine at Gemini; southern Italian fare at Coda di Volpe; the Mexican cantina that is Old Pueblo; the neighborhood steakhouse Sophia; Greek mezze and wine at Andros Taverna and Pomeroy, a French bistro.
