February 15, 2010
Au Bon Pain has announced the opening of its newest café, a 1,200 square-foot location, in New York City's Rockefeller Center. The opening marks Au Bon Pain's expanding presence in the greater New York City area, joining cafés throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Long Island and Staten Island.
The Au Bon Pain's marketplace café – a grab-and-go concept – is well-suited to the many visitors, residents and area employees that pass through each day. At breakfast, the café offers coffee, pastries, bagels, breakfast sandwiches along with hot oatmeal with a choice of toppings, and signature items including the smoked salmon and wasabi bagel sandwich.
At lunch, the café offers a soup bar with eight choices daily, counter service for ordering sandwiches and rice bowls, and a refrigerated case stocked with salads and pre-made sandwiches. The self-serve bakery case also displays freshly made cookies, pastries and other sweet treats.
"Our company's first café outside of Massachusetts opened at Rockefeller Plaza in 1984. We are excited to make our return to the complex and we look forward to serving the many visitors who come to this iconic landmark," Au Bon Pain president and CEO Sue Morelli said.
