Au Bon Pain announced today the availability of new seasonal, holiday menu items at its U.S. cafés that will be available until Jan. 12, 2014, according to a company press release.
"The holidays are a special time of year, so we wanted to offer additional delicious choices that resonate with guests during the holiday season," said Maria Feicht, Au Bon Pain's chief brand officer. "From distinctive soups to made-to-order sandwiches to freshly baked desserts, our new holiday menu offers something for everyone and encompasses those seasonal ingredients people desire most this time of year."
Au Bon Pain's culinary head Chef Roger Bowles said he developed the holiday menu by exploring the flavors that people associate with the holiday season. In total, eight new options were added to the menu, and incorporate classic flavors such as cinnamon, gingerbread, peppermint, and mushrooms. The new selections are reflected in the breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert categories, which means any time of day is the perfect time for customers to sample the new options.
"Customers love our staple menu items at Au Bon Pain, but we know our diners will be delighted to try these innovative, holiday-themed foods. Come visit us at breakfast to try an Egg White Mushroom & Frittata breakfast sandwich, at lunch to sample Thai Coconut Shrimp soup and a Chicken, Mushroom & Swiss Sandwich on sprouted grain roll, and for dessert to indulge in the gingerbread cookie," said Bowles.
Additionally, this marks the introduction of the sprouted grain roll to the Au Bon Pain sandwich menu. The sprouted grain roll was created to satisfy customers who are increasingly looking for unconventional, and healthy, bread choices for their sandwiches. With 10g of protein and 7g of fiber, the sprouted grain roll is packed with nutrition as well as great taste.
"Bread now is so much more than a choice between wheat, white, or rye. We have seen an explosion of new options, such as flatbreads, presented as bread options to modernize the conventional sandwich, and as our name suggests, we consider ourselves to be the place of good bread. Our new sprouted grain roll offers a new twist on the sandwich, and packs major flavor and nutritional value as well," said Feicht.
