AllerTrain approved for food service in Maryland

A Maryland county now requires eateries to have an allergy and gluten-free trained employee on site during operating hours.

On Nov. 1, Montgomery County, Maryland, passed AllerTrain, legislation requiring restaurants to have at least one allergy and gluten-free trained employee on-the-clock at all times.

AllerTrain employee courses cost $19 per hour or $69 for three-hours of training, and will take effect Jul. 1, 2017.

"Food safety and allergen awareness should be an important part of any food service training program. The lives and health of food service guest, across any type of establishment, depends on proper training and education," said Betsy Craig, founder and CEO of AllerTrain, in a release.
