Every DoorDash employee, up to and including the CEO, are being asked to make monthly deliveries as part of the company's WeDash program, which launched in 2013.
Money earned during the deliveries are donated to charities, and employees gain insight into the daily workings of the third-party delivery company, according to a CNNBusiness report.
"As the company grew, the founders wanted everyone to experience different parts of the product so we could get closer to all our audiences and understand how the product works," a DoorDash spokesperson stated in an email to CNN Business. "By engaging as a Dasher, supporting a merchant, or shadowing a customer experience agent, employees learn firsthand how the technology products we build empower local economies, which in turn helps us build a better product."
