AI technology transforms Shipley Donuts’ online ordering

Shipley Do-Nuts has rolled out an online ordering system powered by artificial intelligence from the technology company Saivory, designed to streamline customer orders and increase sales.

"Saivory has been a true innovation partner, bringing technology that enhances ordering convenience and personalization for our guests while driving measurable value for both our franchisees and the brand," Kerry Leo, vice president of technology at Shipley Do-Nuts, said in a company press release. "Reimagining ShipleyDonuts.com is only the beginning of how AI can elevate the guest experience for our brand."

The platform, which includes an Ordering Assistant and Autocomplete tools, uses Saivory's AI to offer personalized and optimized recommendations for both individual and large group orders, including catering, according to the release.

Guests may type a request, such as "Order me office breakfast for 40 people," directly on the company's website and receive a complete, editable cart ready for checkout in seconds. The AI analyzes guest preferences, order history, event details and budget to build the suggestions.

Saivory, which was founded by restaurateurs, said its technology helps enterprise brands improve customer experience, increase conversion and boost average order value through smart upselling.

The AI features showed immediate results in the first month.

  • Customers used the AI features in 22% of online orders.
  • The AI-assisted orders resulted in 24% higher average order values compared to non-AI orders.
  • The AOV for AI-assisted orders was more than double the average value of orders placed through third-party delivery channels.

Stephen Klein, CEO of Saivory, said in the release that the technology is designed to help restaurants "reclaim and strengthen first-party digital relationships, reduce friction and cart abandonment, improve AOVs, and deliver personalized, efficient experiences that customers love."

The company emphasizes that the Ordering Assistant is a full-featured AI that learns from every interaction, distinguishing it from standard chatbots. Saivory's platform also includes dynamic local pages, mobile experiences, and automated customer relationship management workflows.
