SkinnyPizza squeezes into Connecticut
SkinnyPizza, a New York City-based chain that specializes in serving a healthier version of traditional New York-style pizza, is opening its first Connecticut location this week at 30 Greenwich Ave., in Greenwich, according to a press release.
Joseph Vetrano, who founded SkinnyPizza in 2009, describes his concept as "real pizza, real thin." From his experience working in his family's pizza and pasta restaurant, Vetrano said he saw the trend to cut carbohydrates and calories in classic food as well as offering interactivity to the process, according to the release. Diners pay one price and build their own custom SkinnyPizza from a large selection of fresh toppings. Vetrano, who calls his custom SkinnyPizza pies, "Built With No Guilt," is also working on a cauliflower pizza crust.
Vetrano has teamed with Gary Occhiogrosso, founder of Franchise Growth Solutions, to expand the five-unit brand to 15 units by 2020. SkinnyPizza franchises are available in New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and along the eastern seaboard.
