Chipotle began to open restaurants in 2009 that feature this new store design. The design, like the food, is intended to feature simple materials used in uncommon ways.
Chipotle’s new store design also uses more environmentally friendly building materials and energy efficient systems, is less cluttered than the old design, and has smaller, more efficient kitchens.
Chipotle’s founder Steve Ells also said the company expects the new design will be simpler to construct and will cost less than the company’s former book, further improving new restaurant economics.
The new store design also features a different style of seating than former locations. Investors and consumers can expect ore restaurants will open in 2010 with this new design, Ells said.
