Newk's gets cheesy

Newk's Express Café has added two new macaroni and cheese dishes — four cheese and pimiento with bacon — to the menu for a limited time.

The four cheese version contains macaroni noodles blended into a combination of asiago, white cheddar, parmesan and Swiss cheeses and baked to a golden brown. Pimiento with bacon is a blend of asiago, white cheddar, parmesan and Swiss cheeses layered between two layers of Newk's own pimiento cheese recipe and topped with bacon. Starting March 1, guests can also add crawfish to either version of the dish.

"The new mac and cheese dishes are our special take on a classic comfort food," said Chris Newcomb, co-founder and CEO. "These limited time offers are a perfect fit with the rest of our menu. They stand alone as delicious entrees and also make a great addition to a sandwich or salad."

Since opening its first location in Oxford, Miss., in 2004, Newk's has expanded its presence to 11 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. Newk's has more than 50 restaurants with plans to add 10 more this year.
