Dec. 21, 2012

Brazilian fast casual concept Giraffas is further expanding its footprint in the United States. The restaurant, founded in Brazil in 1981, already has about 400 locations there, and entered the U.S. market last year in Miami. It's continuing to stick its neck out in the South Florida market with even bigger expansion plans, according to a company press release.

With more than three openings in 2012 that included North Miami, The Shops At Midtown and Pinecrest, Fla., Giraffas will ring in the New Year with its fourth restaurant on Jan. 7 at the Pembroke Lakes Square Shopping Plaza at 151 North Hiatus Rd. Suite 312, Pembroke Pines, Fla.

The investment was $750,000 and the unit will employ 40 full-time positions. Other Florida locations opening in 2013 include Broward County, Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, Doral, Tampa, Orlando and Cypress Creek.
