Dallas-based Dickey's Barbecue just sold its 500th franchise. The chain has 312 locations open with another 200 in development and is now ready to take the next step in brand evolution, said Roland Dickey Jr., president and CEO of Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants Inc.
"We've spent years perfecting the concept while creating national brand recognition and loyalty," he said. "We've always said that we won't expand internationally until we reach 500 locations, and we are well on our way to meeting that goal in the next few years."
The 500th franchise was sold to Marshall Williams and will open in October in Beaumont, Texas. Williams previously worked as a corporate security manager for a major chemical company in Texas.
"I picked Dickey's because I was so impressed with their growth and their brand has a lot to offer — they really caught my attention," Williams said. "This is a milestone for Dickey's, but also an extremely exciting opportunity for me to start the new era in Dickey's growth."
Dickey's Barbecue was founded by Travis Dickey in 1941.
