NEW YORK — Planet Smoothie has announced the grand opening of its three newest locations inside Manhattan's Penn Station, opening May 18. The opening marks the de-identification of three previously branded Smoothie Kings locations.
Joining the celebration is Hollywood and New York actor, TV star, talk show host and entrepreneur, Stephen Baldwin who has signed on to promote Planet Smoothie nationally. To celebrate Planet Smoothie's entry into NYC, Baldwin will be directing and starring in a short movie, entitled "The Search for Cupman." The global premiere of this movie will take place May 18 at www.cupmanmovie.com.
"Entering New York marks a big day for Planet Smoothie, a brand that we feel has tremendous potential not only to lead the category, but to influence the way consumers eat," said Chris Morocco, CEO of Planet Smoothie. "I emphasize eat because our mission going forward is so much greater than serving the best tasting smoothie. We intend to deliver products the category has yet to produce, and we will place increased emphasis on educating the marketplace about unhealthy foods, acceptable foods vs. superfoods."
Planet Smoothie's R&D Beverage Team also is unveiling four new customized smoothies for New Yorkers at the grand opening: The Caribbean King, Skinny "B", Kiwi Kazi and Big pineAPPLE.
The New Smoothies include:
- Caribbean King combines papaya, strawberry and banana with a kick of protein powder to accelerate muscle growth and development.
- Skinny B gives customers the choice of strawberry, vanilla, chocolate, or creamsicle and also is blended with protein powder.
- Kiwi Kazi features Planet Smoothie's weight loss powder combined with kiwi, papaya and strawberries.
- Big pineAPPLE is a combination of pineapple, banana, papaya and honey in a smooth blend loaded with fruit.
The Seventh Avenue location also will serve a large assortment of fruit and vegetable juices in a "Create Your Own" juice bar, where customers may choose any three from a selection of 12 fruits and 10 veggies.
