Energy Kitchen is positioning itself to expand by an additional 50 locations throughout the New York metropolitan region over the next three years, and will specifically target the Tri-State area for that growth.

The concept, which has nine open locations throughout Manhattan, provides low-calorie, low-fat menu items such as wraps, burgers and salads each 500 calories or less.

"As more and more consumers begin to realize that fast food doesn't have to be fat food, we look forward to continuing to provide them with a healthy, delicious alternative to their dining options," Anthony Leone, founder and president of Energy Kitchen said. "We're all about providing our guests with nutritious and convenient food that supports their active, healthy lifestyle."

To augment the company's future growth, Energy Kitchen is seeking multiunit franchisees, as well as area developers. The average cost to open an Energy Kitchen is between $300,000 and $500,000, with a franchise fee of $30,000.

Leone opened the first Energy Kitchen in New York City in 2004. Soon after, he partnered with Randy Schechter and expanded the concept citywide.
