Smashburger will open its first New Jersey location in 2009 through a franchise agreement with Smash Enterprises LLC to develop 30 stores in the state. The first store will be located in Montclair, N.J.
Smash Enterprises LLC, an affiliate of Mascott Corporation, has signed a franchise deal with Smashburger to open 30 Smashburger locations in New Jersey. Mascott Corporation will open six to eight additional Smashburger locations throughout Northern New Jersey in 2010.
Smashburger will offer several menu items with a decidedly "Jersey" flavor. The items will include:
- The New Jersey Smashburger is a one-third or one-half Angus beef burger topped with Applewood smoked bacon, blue cheese crumbles, grilled onions, haystack onions, lettuce, tomato and mayo, served on an onion bun.
- The restaurant's Smashdogs are made with Newark's famous "Best's" brand hot dogs and include two regional hot dogs. The Jersey Dog features sauerkraut, grilled onions and brown mustard. The Italian Dog includes peppers, potatoes and onions.
- The Jersey Diner Salad is topped with bacon, tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles, haystack onions and two fried eggs.
- Smashburger salutes the state fruit of New Jersey with a Blueberry Shake made with Häagen-Dazs ice cream.
