Goel Management, franchisee of 12 Baja Fresh restaurants, Verizon Wireless retail stores and various real estate holdings, has purchased the master franchise rights for Freshii for the entire Philadelphia MSA to open at least 30 new Freshii locations.
"Philadelphia is the fifth largest media market in the U.S., but has surprisingly few healthy eating options compared to many other large cities," said Sumeet Goel, CEO of Goel Management. "Freshii start-up costs are half of anything else I've seen with similar volumes; the concept is surprisingly simple to operate, with lower food and labor costs, great food, the ability to expand in traditional and non-traditional locations. I think Freshii is the perfect fit for Philadelphia."
Freshii, which started in Toronto, and is now headquartered in Chicago, has 16 restaurants open in the United States and Canada and another 100-plus in development in NYC, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Colorado, Los Angeles, Houston, Eastern Europe and now Philadelphia. Freshii restaurants range in size from 150-square-foot kiosks to 1,500-square-foot inline locations.
