Tavistock Restaurants LLC has announced its plan to expand the Freebirds World Burrito concept in 2010 with 26 new restaurants located in Texas, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Southern California. The expansion will double the current number of Freebirds locations to 52.
In the past three months, Tavistock has opened three Freebirds locations in Texas, and the expansion wave will continue through 2010 with at least one Freebirds World Burrito opening each month. Some months also will be packed with two and three new locations opening.
As part of the real estate strategy, Freebirds will seek to open on or near college campuses across the nation. One such site is the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, which is scheduled to open this summer.
A Freebirds events team also will be taking the restaurant on the road this year starting with the Houston Rodeo on March 2, the first stop on Freebirds 2010 rock n' roll tour.
