With more than 900 restaurants in the United States and Canada, Buffalo Wild Wings continues to spread its wings across North America with new agreements to open restaurants in Mexico later this year. The announcement was made at the company's annual business conference in Orlando, Fla.
"We are delighted to announce that we are bringing our unique and social sports viewing experience to Mexico," said Sally Smith, CEO and president of Buffalo Wild Wings. "In our restaurants across the U.S. and Canada, we see how sports bring people together and we are confident that Buffalo Wild Wings' stadium-like atmosphere will attract sports fans in Mexico as well."
The new agreements are with three Mexican franchise groups: PRENSA, Family Dine Foods and Grupo SE. Construction will begin with three restaurants this year, each featuring Buffalo Wild Wings' new design, Smith said.
The company's international push began in 2011, with restaurants in Canada, which have grown to nine locations. Last year, Buffalo Wild Wings announced further expansion into the Middle East and Puerto Rico and expect to open the first of those restaurants later this year. The company continues to explore opportunities in markets across the world.
"As we explore new markets, we take the time to learn about the countries, cultures and potential partners," Smith said. "We are pleased to be working with three franchise partners who all have extensive experience in restaurants and retail – and most importantly, a deep understanding of the market and our target Guest."
