New Orleans-based VoodDoo BBQ opens its first South Florida location on Jan. 13 and is giving free barbecue for a year to its first 99 customers. Doors to the Pembroke Pines unit, located at 151 N. Hiatus Road, open at 11 a.m., but Franchisee Jack Flechner said anyone interested in eating free for a year should line up much earlier.
"There's been a lot of interest in our food ever since we announced we would be opening here," Flechner said. "We're expecting a large crowd to show up on our first day to take advantage of this special promotion."
On Jan. 12, the restaurant will host a fundraiser for Relay for Life Pembroke Pines which benefits the American Cancer Society. For a $10 donation, guests will get a chance to sample everything on the VooDoo BBQ menu from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
New Orleans-based Voodoo BBQ & Grill has been recognized as one of the fastest growing fast casual restaurant franchises in the industry, with locations opening and under development in more than 56 cities and five states. The first location opened in New Orleans in 2002 on Mardi Gras day.
