Dickey's Barbecue broke system-wide sales records with more than $2 million in sales Nov. 19–23, thanks to its holiday catered meals. This represents a 45 percent increase in year-over-year sales, said Roland Dickey Jr., president and CEO of Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants, Inc.
"We had an overwhelmingly positive response to our expanded holiday family meals," Dickey said. "The day before Thanksgiving we saw a 63 percent increase in sales of individual proteins and full holiday meals — we're already gearing up for round two of record-breaking sales during the Christmas holiday."
The Complete Holiday Meal includes cornbread dressing, gravy, baked potato casserole, green beans with bacon and 12 buttery rolls in addition to the custom-prepared turkey or ham.
Technomic released research this week indicating that that fast-casual restaurants are poised to outperform all others in the catering market, with projected growth at 12 percent. Quick service sandwich restaurants are next in line with an 8 percent increase, and club stores should see a 7 percent jump. Together, restaurants are now capturing four times the revenue of retailers for catering occasions — $19 billion versus $4 billion.
"Dickey's is not only the segment leader in fast-casual barbecue, but now we also offer great tasting and unique catering alternatives for busy families," said Dickey.
