GoodDrinks, a new specialty drinks producer, has introduced a complete line of sauces, mixes and concentrates that is completely free of high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS).
The GoodDrinks line includes Dark Chocolate, Caramel, White Chocolate and Single Origin Ghana Chocolate sauces and a versatile Vanilla frozen drink mix. GoodDrinks also offers globally-inspired drink concentrates for Chai and Horchata, a rice-based, dairy-free Latin American classic that includes vanilla and cinnamon notes and has traditionally been served cold. The GoodDrinks Horchata has been specially formulated to be enjoyed year round either served blended or steamed.
HFCS is a processed sweetener introduced to the U.S. in the 1970s as an alternative to sugar. There has been some debate surrounding the natural properties of HFCS even after The Food and Drug Administration noted in 2008 it would "not object to the use of the term 'natural' on a product containing HFCS."
"By introducing GoodDrinks, we're finally giving consumers and restaurant owners a better choice for their bodies, a better choice for their customers, a better choice for their children and a better choice for our future," said Michael Szyliowicz, Chocolatier at GoodDrinks. "When you start researching high-fructose corn syrup and all the health risks associated with it, you're suddenly very aware that our industry relies heavily on the ingredient to create sweet drinks. Obviously there is still research that needs to be done on the subject, but GoodDrinks just seemed like the right thing to do for our customers."
Through a partnership with Population Services International (PSI), a global non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of people in the developing world, GoodDrinks has pledged a per-case donation to PSI and its P&G Purifier of Water (POW) efforts in developing countries. With every case of GoodDrinks purchased, the company will provide a family of four with clean drinking water for a week.
GoodDrinks is available immediately for interested distributors, coffee shops or other restaurant operators.
