Yogurtland units across the U.S., Mexico and Guam are deploying DigitalPersona's fingerprint biometrics system, U.are.U Fingerprint Readers, to address Payment Card Industry (PC) compliance requirements and reduce payroll fraud.
DigitalPersona's fingerprint readers eliminate the need for franchise managers to remember login passwords at each store location, and also help eliminate buddy punching by employees. The objective is to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs at Yogurtland locations.
Employees at Yogurtland previously used 4-digit PIN codes at point-of-sale terminals to access time-and-attendance and POS systems, while managers used swipe cards for override authorizations. One of the biggest operational challenges was complying with the PCI Data Security Standards requirement to change a user's complex password every 90 days.
Franchisee managers and owners with multiple locations found it difficult to remember the changing passwords. By using U.are.U Fingerprint Readers with their Micros Systems Inc. point of sale software, managers and owners no longer need to go through this process. They now touch the fingerprint reader to release the password.
