Moe’s Southwest Grill has signed an agreement with BJ's Wholesale Club to create a line of retail dips, veggies, appetizers, soups, salsas and salad dressings that will bring the Moe’s experience to BJ's customers. The partnership is Moe’s first foray into licensing and the products are now available for purchase at all 190 BJ's Wholesale Clubs.
Each of the 17 items features Moe’s brand personality such as its “PG-13” medium salsa and “You Guacing to Me” chunky guacamole. All products, including Moe’s White Bean Dip, Spicy Guacamole Hummus and Five Layer Dip, are priced under $10.
"This is a really exciting extension of the Moe’s brand and we anticipate it will propel our brand awareness in the future,” said Paul Damico, president of Moe’s Southwest Grill. “We’re certain that the collaboration with BJ's Wholesale Club and our licensing partners will lend our customers the same great tastes they’ve come to expect in our restaurants."
The retail partnership comes on the heels of Moe’s launch of its second annual Dance Your Queso Off contest.
To enter the contest, guests can create a 30-second dance video and upload it to www.ilovequeso.com any time before July 24. Moe’s panel of judges will consider originality, video quality, dance moves and the dance off ranking to determine who will win the $10,000 grand prize.
Fans can visit the website to watch the video entries and pick their favorites. Videos will face off against each other and fans will vote for the best, funniest and/or most entertaining dance video. Those who participated in the I Love Queso video contest last year may recognize the song playing on the site as the original hit by last year’s contest winner, Christiano Covino.
“We received such great feedback and participation in last year’s I Love Queso video contest, that this year we decided to turn it up a notch by adding dance moves to the mix and a larger cash prize,” said Joel Bulger, vice president of marketing for Moe’s Southwest Grill. “For years our guests have loved expressing to us how much they love Moe’s Queso. This summer, we’re excited to give them this fun and entertaining platform to do just that.”
All of this excitement surrounding Queso will lead up to Moe’s second annual Free Queso Day on July 20. Participating locations nationwide will give one free 6-ounce cup of Moe’s famous Queso to every guest, all day.
