Just three months after naming Greg MacDonald as its new CEO, Quiznos has laid off about 70 employees at its Denver-based headquarters.
According to the Denver Business Journal, the sandwich franchisor’s parent company QCE LLC filed a notice with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment last week. The layoffs will begin in early March.
The notice said the company plans to restructure operations at the headquarters and approximately 69 employees will be affected. It was signed by Jeffrey K. Stahlhut, Quiznos executive vice president and general counsel.
Another statement submitted to the Denver Business Journal said the layoffs are attributable to a slow economy and that the company expected continued improvement in 2011.
Quiznos has more than 4,300 locations across the U.S. and in 25 foreign countries, a majority of which are franchised.
