GoMobo was launched in 2005 with a focus of creating a directory listing of restaurants where consumers could order ahead and get food on the go. Over time, the company’s popularity pushed it to expand into other service areas, thus changing the options offered by the firm.

While mobile has always been a small part of the company’s focus, founder Noah Glass said the name GoMobo gave way to market confusion, which impeded growth.

“In parallel, the restaurant industry began to commonly use an acronym to describe what it was that we were doing; in the restaurant technology world, On-Line Ordering is abbreviated as OLO. We liked the way that sounded,” Glass said.

Therefore, GoMobo has changed its name to OLO and has launched a new website, www.olo.com , to reflect the change.

GoMobo.com will remain unchanged as the destination site where consumers can find nearby restaurants, order and pay ahead, and Skip the Line, Glass said.

The name change also reflects other big changes the company experienced in 2010:

  •    Doubled users in the last 90 days
  •    10x Monthly Transaction Volume in the last 12 months
  •    $1,000+ in Incremental Daily Sales for top clients

The company also deployed nationwide with Five Guys Burgers & Fries; launched the restaurant industry's first-ever self-signup tool, so that restaurants could create their own branded online ordering service; launched an award-winning mobile device to allow restaurants to receive online orders from anywhere; and formed a partnership deal with Heartland Payment Systems to resell online ordering service in key markets.
