Boston Market has entered into an agreement with Keurig Incorporated and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. to distribute Keurig's gourmet single-cup coffee brewing systems in more than 400 Boston Market locations. The roll-out, featuring the Keurig B140 Brewer and premium Green Mountain Coffee selections, began this month and will be completed in early 2011.
"Joining with Boston Market to offer premium Green Mountain Coffee through the Keurig single-cup brewing system will allow us to share our high-quality, specialty coffee with more consumers nationwide who look for freshness, value, and quality in their cup," said Jim Travis, VP of sales for the specialty coffee business unit of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters.
The decision was made to implement the system after a successful test in 10 restaurant locations in Florida over three months, and in some cases, increased coffee sales by 200 percent.
Boston Market's coffee program is part of the company's new branding and service format and will be communicated via menu boards and point-of-sale creative in the upcoming months. The company also announced the addition of George Michel as CEO. That appointment was effective October 1.
