ARLINGTON, Texas — Point-of-sale and management software supplier Intura Solutions has added biometric fingerprint security to its Intura Vision product.

According to a news release, the fingerprint authentication method was launched along with a new release of Intura Vision Feb. 19-20 at the North America Pizza & Ice Cream Show in Columbus, Ohio.

In addition to fingerprint security, Intura Vision offers two other employee-authentication tools: magnetic swipe cards and user I.D./password. All three methods provide users the ability to login to each Vision module, assign delivery orders to a driver, route a driver back to the store, assign cash drops and all other special-access security requirements. Each employee set up in the Vision software can assign up to four different fingers to be used with the fingerprint recognition capability.

"Using a fingerprint to access system features and time and attendance adds an additional level of security that the other methods don't offer," said Gary W. Peek II, president of Intura Solutions. "Employees won't have to worry about forgetting their password or having someone steal their password by looking over their shoulder. Employers won't have to worry about an employee having another employee clock them in advance of their shift."

The fingerprint reader utilizes the U.are.U technology developed by Digital Persona. It's available as an integrated solution with Posiflex workstations as well as a standalone version from Microsoft.

"Many of our customers have requested fingerprint security built in to Vision." Said Steve Richardson, vice president of sales and marketing for Intura Solutions. "We are excited about bringing this feature, in addition to 75 other enhancements, to the Intura Vision product."
