• Panera profits rise sharply for Q2

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Mo. — Panera Bread credited increased traffic for a solid second quarter.
 
System-wide same-store sales grew 3.2 percent during the quarter.
 
Net income for the second quarter rose to $14.1 million from $10.7 million, while revenue rose 30 percent to $197 million from $152 million a year ago.
 
Panera Bread operates 897 bakery-cafes (319 company-owned and 578 franchised).
