• August comps flat at Panera Bread

ST. LOUIS — Panera Bread Company reported system-wide comparable bakery-cafe sales increased 1.3 percent for the five weeks ended Aug. 29, 2006. The company also adjusted its third quarter 2006 system-wide comparable bakery-cafe sales growth range target to 2 percent to 3 percent down from 3 percent to 4 percent.
 
Franchise comps increased 1.5 percent while company-owned stores increased 0.7 percent.
