NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — zpizza has signed a multiunit franchise agreement with Linda Tran to open five units in southeast Virginia. According to a news release, the first will open in Virginia Beach by summer 2007.
"I was looking to franchise a concept that had an innovative niche," Tran said. "zpizza caught my attention because of its gourmet, health-conscious twist on traditional pizza."
Chris Bright, president of zpizza, said previous success in other Virginia markets led the chain to pursue further expansion there.
"We won 'Best Pizza Restaurant' and 'Best Delivery Pizza' in Washingtonian Magazine, so we are very excited to be expanding beyond the metro area and into the rest of Virginia," Bright said.
zpizza will have more than 60 locations open nationwide by the end of 2006 and another 200 in ongoing development in California, Arizona, Florida, Nevada, Texas, Virginia, Washington, D.C., Maryland, North Carolina, Colorado and Vermont.
