Jody Maroni's intros gourmet pizza toppings

VENICE, Calif. — Sausage maker Jody Maroni's now is providing pizza toppings such as crumbled chicken and pork sausages in exotic flavors.

"We have seen how pizza makers have added marinated chicken or feta cheese or any number of flavorings to their pizzas in order to make them gourmet," said owner Jody Maroni. "I thought it would be ideal to simply turn some of my gourmet flavors into pizza toppings which would allow them to create any number of ethnic or contemporary cuisine-like items."

According to a news release, the company's newest pizza toppings include Yucatan Chicken with Cilantro, Tequila Chicken with Jalapenos, Venetian Chicken with Sun Dried Tomatoes and Basil and Chicken Chorizo with Balsamic Vinegar and Mint.
