Bruegger's reports strong 4Q, FY 2006 growth

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Bruegger's Enterprises Inc. reported fourth-quarter comparable-store sales grew 6.4 percent at company locations and 5.1 percent system-wide, capping 11 consecutive quarters of growth for the bakery-cafe chain.

For fiscal year 2006, same-store sales increased 6.6 percent for the company and 4.9 percent system-wide. Gross sales increased 7 percent system-wide, up from $155 million in FY '05 to $166 million in FY '06.

Bruegger's chief executive James J. Greco attributed the company's record-breaking growth to the addition of several new menu items and its continued focus on customer service.

Bruegger's plans to open 100 bakeries over the next two years.
