CHARLESTON, S.C. — Three local Firehouse Subs locations raised more than $50,000 in donations from individuals in the Charleston, S.C., the company announced.
The funds were matched, dollar for dollar, by the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, the restaurant chain's charitable organization.
In total, $103,245 has been given by Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to the City of Charleston Firemen's Fund, benefiting the families of the nine firefighters who lost their lives in the Sofa Super Store fire June 18, 2007.
"We have certainly experienced a tremendous outpouring of generosity from individuals," said Kevin Hatton, local franchise owner of three Firehouse Subs locations in Charleston, North Charleston and Mt. Pleasant, S.C. "We are proud to be part of the Charleston community and provide to the firefighters' families during this time of need."
Hatton added that a single anonymous donor contributed a significant amount during the in-store fund-raising period.
