Bruegger's comps increase 10.5 percent

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Bruegger's Enterprises Inc. has reported that system-wide gross sales increased 10.5 percent for the second quarter ending July 10, 2007, up to $42.11 million for the second quarter compared with $38.12 million in 2006.

Revenue for comp sales grew 4.9 percent at company-owned locations and 3.8 percent system-wide for the quarter. This period marks 13 consecutive quarters of growth for the fast-casual leader.

During the quarter, Bruegger's opened four bakeries, one company-owned and three franchise-operated, bringing the total to 259 bakeries in 21 states. Franchisees have development commitments for nearly 100 new units over the next few years.
