The Economist: The Economist magazine has predicted that world food prices will continue to inflate, primarily caused by a rise in the government's policies favoring ethanol, made from maize. Demand for more food is increasing in the long term because newly rich consumers in historically poor countries, such as China and India, are eating more meat and other food. But the magazine also blames the short-term jump on American policy.
