COSTA MESA, Calif. — EPL Intermediate Inc., parent company of El Pollo Loco Inc., has reported results for its fourth quarter and year ended Dec. 26, 2007.
For the quarter, systemwide same-store sales increased 3 percent compared to the same quarter last year.
Operating revenues for the fourth quarter totaled $70.2 million, an increase of $5.6 million, or 8.7 percent, over operating revenues of $64.6 million for the fourth quarter of 2006.
There was a net loss for the quarterof $1.6 million compared with a net loss of $1.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2006.
For the year
Same-store sales increased 2.7 percent systemwide for the year, marking the company's eighth consecutive year of comps growth.
El Pollo Loco reported operating revenues for the year of $279 million, an increase of $19.1 million, or 7.4 percent, over operating revenues for the same time last year.
There was a net loss for the year $4 million, or 1.6 percent, compared to a net income of $0.6 million, or 0.3 percent, for the same period last year.
In 2007 the company opened 30 restaurants; 11 company-owned and 19 franchised locations. The latter includes five new restaurants in Georgia and the first El Pollo Loco in Massachusetts.
