MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Local gourmet coffeehouse operator Caribou Coffee won the Roasters Guild 2008 Roasters Choice Tasting Competition at the Specialty Coffee Association of America's (SCAA) 20th Annual Conference & Exhibition in Minneapolis.
The competition featured exceptional coffees from some of the finest coffee roasters throughout the country. The 2008 Roasters Choice Tasting Competition winners are:
- Caribou Coffee, Minneapolis — Gold Award winner
- Sweet Maria's, Oakland, Calif. — Silver Award winner
- The Roasterie, Kansas City, Mo. — Bronze Award winner
All Roasters Guild members — about 370 — were invited to participate in the competition by submitting 30 pounds of coffee, which they roasted just prior to the event. To determine a winner, each conference attendee got one chance to vote for the best of the 10 finalists in a blind taste test.
