CHARLOTTE, N.C. — QCarolina Restaurants LLC has acquired 16 Qdoba Mexican Grill restaurant in North Carolina and two in Tennessee.
 
QCarolina Restaurant ownership group is made up of Tom Lewison, Joe Drury, Bill Branstrom and Keith Stoneman. Drury served as chairman and CEO of chicken chain Bojangles' from 2001 until 2006. Lewison formerly served as Bojangles' president and chief operating officer.
 
The acquisition makes QCarolina Restaurants one of the top five largest Qdoba franchisees in the chain.
 
QCarolina Restaurants will initially concentrate on upgrading facilities and operations in existing locations. The group also plans to open five new restaurants per year throughout North Carolina and Tennessee.
