CARLSBAD, Calif. — Comparable-store sales at Rubio's Restaurants Inc. decreased 2.1 percent in the third quarter ended Sept. 28, the company announced, compared with an increase of 7.1 percent for the same quarter last year. Transactions decreased 6.7 percent and check average increased 4.9 percent for the quarter.
Year-to-date comps were off 3.1 percent.
Revenues for the quarter were $47 million, up 7 percent from revenues of $44 million for the same quarter last year. Year-to-date revenues rose 5 percent to $134.3 million, from $128 million for the same three quarters last year.
Net income for the quarter was $789,000 up 8 percent from net income of $732,000 for the same quarter last year. Year-to-date net income was $379,000 as compared to net income of $1.4 million for the same three quarters last year.
